About Me

My 8th grade art teacher liked a classroom window I'd painted with reindeers, Santa, elves and snowflakes and enrolled me in a Saturday Chicago Art Institute art class.  My love of art continued and I obtained a B.A. in Studio Art and PhD in Art History from UCLA, then taught art history at CSUChico for 30 years.  I then cofounded Avenue 9 Gallery in Chico and devoted myself to painting full time.  I love the richness of Northern California subjects that range from my hometown of Chico to San Francisco, and to the agricultural settings of rice fields and orchards. devote myself to painting full time.  I love the richness of Northern California subjects that range from my hometown of Chico to San Francisco, and to the agricultural settings of rice fields and orchards.

For the past two years I've been publishing a monthly newsletter, Art Talk, which features articles on creativity, art and current events. To sign-up for Art Talk, use this link.
